About DISH Network
DISH Network traces its history to EchoStar, founded in 1980 by Charlie Ergen, Candy Ergen, and Jim DeFranco. The company initially sold satellite television equipment and later developed its own direct-broadcast satellite television service.
The DISH Network service launched in 1996 and grew into a major competitor in the U.S. pay-television industry. EchoStar spun off DISH Network as a separate company in 2008. DISH later expanded into wireless communications, including through the Boost Mobile business, and subsequently reunited with EchoStar through a corporate combination completed in 2023.
